Metro Hartford Alliance issued the following announcement on Feb. 27.

Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Hartford is pleased to announce that Liz Bryden, LCSW, has been appointed as the new Chief Operating Officer.

In this role, Bryden will coordinate, supervise, and direct program operations in the tri-county (Hartford, New Haven and Litchfield) area. Catholic Charities is excited to welcome a proven leader in the nonprofit social services sector during an important time in the 100-year history of this organization.

For the past 18 years, Liz has worked at The Village for Families in Children. Since 2016, she has been a Senior Vice President, leading a continuum of programs that include foster care, adoption, in-home clinical services, residential treatment, private special education school, and multi-site extended day treatment program. Prior to joining The Village, she was Chief Operating Officer at Walker Home and School in Needham, Mass. She received her Master of Social Work degree from Rhode Island College, and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Rochester.

“I am very happy and excited to join Catholic Charities as COO,” said Bryden. “I am impressed by the depth and breadth of the programs and services offered at this agency, and eager to support our staff members who are making a significant difference in the lives of individuals, families, and communities across our region.”

Catholic Charities is one of the largest non-governmental providers of human services in the State of Connecticut, serving about 18,000 individuals of all faiths and backgrounds annually. Programs and services include behavioral health programs for adults, children, and families; affordable and accredited child development centers that prepare children ages 3 to 5 years old for kindergarten; family centers that promote stability, self-sufficiency, and strong communities; 24/7 group residences and day program for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities; youth programs serving teens in New Haven; senior centers serving individuals ages 55 and older in Hartford; and more.
