Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Aug. 7.
The Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce (GNHCC) announces new date of Monday, August 27, 2018 for the 25th Annual Scholarship Golf Classic at the New Haven Country Club, 160 Hartford Turnpike, Hamden, CT. The event was rescheduled from its original date of July 23, due to weather conditions.
Foursomes and sponsorships for the Golf Tournament are still available. The cost is $1,200/foursome or $300/individual and includes a full day of activities which include two hole-in-one chances to win a car, round of golf, a chance to win raffle prizes, a premium gift, swag bag, lunch, and cocktail reception. Businesses can join the tournament or donate funds through sponsorships. In-kind donations are welcome, and all donated promotional items will be displayed or handed out to approximately 150 business professionals.
“We invite golfers and businesses to join us in creating a day geared toward supporting our youth’s education,” said Garret Sheehan, president & CEO of the Greater New Haven Chamber. “It’s a great opportunity for people to relax and enjoy a day of golf, while giving back to the community.”
Five undergraduate students, with majors ranging from accounting, computer science and business technology will be recognized that day at the golf classic. The GOAL, Growing Opportunities for Advancing Learning, scholarship program, administered by the GNHCC’s Foundation, helps strengthen the connection between the business community and New Haven area college students. To date, the GOAL scholarship fund, has awarded over $70,000 to undergraduate students since 1995.

The Scholarship Golf Classic begins with registration at 10:30 a.m., followed by a cookout lunch at 11:30 a.m. A scramble format begins with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. A cocktail reception, raffle, and awards presentation begins at approximately 5:30 p.m. All non-golfers are invited to participate in the post-tournament activities.
